DIMOS GALATSIOU (Municipality of Galatsi)
http://www.galatsi.gr

Besides the fact that it is one of the most densely populated areas of Attica (59,345 habitants), it is also an area where thousands of vehicles circulate to get in and out of the City of Athens. The 2015 air quality report, conducted by the Greek Ministry of Environment, measures severe recrudescence of the emissions of toxic pollutants (such as carcinogenic benzene and NOx) in the nearest measuring station to Galatsi (Patision Station) and HDVs were found mainly responsible for the NOx, PM2.5 and PM10 emissions. The municipality of Galatsi has a fleet of 29 HDVs (waste collection vehicles, trucks, lifting basket, busses etc), of which 5 Euro I, 7 Euro II, 9 Euro III, 2 Euro IV and 6 Euro VI. The municipality currently participates as partner to 2 ERASMUS projects, namely the European Voluntary Events for Therapy through Sports (ending Oct.2017) and the “Mental European Network of Sports Events” (M.E.N.S.) (ending June 2018). It has also implemented dozens of projects financed through the national strategic reference framework (NSRF). These projects concern the modernization of administrative services, quality certificates, interventions in the field of energy consumption reduction in schools and public buildings, construction of day care centres, street asphalting, vehicle fleet management systems, square information, playground development, repairs of existing equipment etc, with budgets ranging between 50,000 and 3,500,000 EUR.
