First retrofit of the CECS on Galatsi’s HDV

The first retrofit of the of Catalyst-Based Emission Control System (CECS) on the selected Heavy- Duty vehicle (HDV) of Galatsis’ Municipality solid waste collection of no Euro Standard was completed on Thursday 18/03/2021.

The retrofit was completed successfully, and the retrofitting procedure was optimized for the repetition of the process for the rest of the HDVs of Galatsis’ Municipality solid waste collection fleet.

The CAT4HEAVY CECS uses a novel catalyst developed and patended by MONO [1]. Compared to conventional Catalysts used, these catalysts use Copper to substitute up to 67% of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs), which are rare, expensive materials, with high supply risk utilized in catalysts manufacture.

This CECS also has a patented by MONOLITHOS device that reduces the oxygen in the exhaust gas in order for the catalysts to operate more efficiently and for longer period of time in diesel fueled HDVs .[2]

The retrofit has updated the Euro classification of the HDV from EURΟ Ι to EURO VI for most of the gases concentrations. The HDV is under inspection in order to assure that the engine works properly, that no backpressure effects appear and that the efficiency of the CECS will remain high over time and mileage run.
